Land Between Tongues

Southeastern Turkey lies at the edge of ancient worlds, a region where borders have shifted, empires have passed, and languages have layered themselves one over the other. Here, Kurdish — in its multiple dialects including Kurmanji and Zazaki — together with Turkish, Arabic, Armenian, Syriac, and forgotten tongues once spoken, all leave their trace in the rhythm of daily life among those who remain.
This photographic journey unfolds within this intricate reality, moving through the cities of Van, Bitlis, Diyarbakır, Mardin, Şanliurfa, and Gaziantep. Guided by the textures of the present, where exchanged glances, fleeting moments, and unfolding landscapes reveal how identity lingers in layered forms, carried through tradition, resilience, and the enduring presence of place.
